TUPAD #BKBK benefits 48,122 informal workers

MANILA—Some 48,122 workers in Metro Manila have benefitted from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced / Disadvantaged Workers Program (TUPAD) #Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko (TUPAD #BKBK) Disinfecting / Sanitation Project.

In a report, the regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment in the National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) had already facilitated the payout of some 42,945 TUPAD beneficiaries, with a total of Php 230,722,050.00 livelihood funds disbursed through a money remittance partner as of May 13, 2020.

DOLE-NCR is still accepting TUPAD #BKBK project proposals from barangays or Local Government Units (LGUs). To avail of the emergency employment program, affected workers in the informal sector are advised to approach their Barangay officials for assistance.

“Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, ang local government units po ang kinakailangang mag-sumite sa DOLE ng letter of intent, work program, at list of beneficiaries. Kaya po sa mga nag-nanais pong mag-participate sa TUPAD #BKBK program, maaari po kayong makipag-ugnayan o tumungo sa inyong barangay hall o kaya sa aming mga public employment service offices (PESO) para magpatala,” said DOLE-NCR Regional Director Sarah Buena S. Mirasol.

Beneficiaries of the TUPAD #BKBK in NCR are required to work for 10 days at a daily wage of Php 537 with enrollment to group micro-insurance; basic orientation on safety and health; and provision of face masks, gloves, and other cleaning materials. They are also reminded to strictly observe the social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
