RTWPB-NCR, DOST-NCR team-up to boost MSMEs business continuity plan
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - NCR joined hands to apprise micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in devising a system of prevention and recovery from potential disruptions to an establishment’s key products and services.

RTWPB-NCR partners with DOST-NCR on the conduct of Business Continuity Planning and Management. Terence Joy O. Amores from the Training and Technical Services Division (TTSD) served as resource person.

In a webinar on “Business Continuity Planning and Management (BCPM), Driving Productivity in the Better Normal” conducted on April 5, 2021, RTWPB-NCR Board Secretary Kim S. Lagcao underscored Filipino resilience and ingenuity in coping during challenging times. He acknowledged the timely discussion of the BCPM and its value as an effective tool to help establishments bounce back after a disaster or disruption.

The webinar highlighted the plan of action aimed at ensuring that business will continue during and after a disaster. Its core objective is to help a business strategize to mitigate risks from unexpected events. In this time of health and economic crisis, the virtual orientation centered on assisting MSMEs to restore business operations in the new and better normal.

National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) resource person Terence Joy O. Amores comprehensively discussed the Seven (7) Steps of the BCPM, to wit: assessing the level of risks and vulnerability of the business, identifying key products and services, analyzing their impact to the organization, designing response actions, organizing team, communicating plans, and developing and testing the effectiveness of the plan.

The BCPM module engaged participants to analyze their current and potential disruption, and evaluate plans to improve business performance.

In his closing message, DOST-NCR PAMAMARISAN Cluster Director Oscar B. Sevilla, Jr. emphasized the importance of being always prepared so that businesses will not be caught by surprise should disruptions arise, and that contingency plans must always be in place.

Follow through assistance will be provided by the RTWPB-NCR to guide interested establishments in the development of their Business Continuity Plans. Over ninety (90) representatives from various MSMEs participated in the webinar. END / Jackilyn Borja
