Virtual job fair awaits jobseekers on May 1

Employers and jobseekers are invited to join the nationwide virtual “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Job and Business Fair" to be led by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on May 1, 2021.

In line with the observance of the National Labor Day Celebration amid COVID-19-induced economic crisis, this year’s TNK fair themed, “Mayo Uno sa Bagong Panahon – Manggagawa at Mamamayan Babangon, Susulong!” seeks to provide jobseekers an access to employment or entrepreneurial options in a virtual space.

In partnership with the PESO Association of Metro Manila (PAMM), industries, and other agencies, the “Trabaho” component will focus on the local, overseas, and government jobs, while those who are keen on the entrepreneurship may sign up for the “Negosyo” and “Kabuhayan” component, which will feature various business learning activities.

For those in Metro Manila, the DOLE regional office in the National Capital Region (NCR) has partnered with the JobQuest.ph and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to help facilitate the employment opportunities in local and overseas, through their official websites, respectively: https://jobquest.ph and https://apps.poea.gov.ph/onlineadvertisement/jobfairadvertisement.aspx.

Under the “Negosyo” component, the regional office also tapped the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to provide, among others, an entrepreneurship advocacy that will feature successful local entrepreneurs and product catalogs; business opportunities specific to the region; government support and assistance in starting a business, including registration and e-commerce; and business advisory and counselling services.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), on the other hand, is also anticipated to provide virtual skills training enhancement programs and provision of training vouchers.

Meanwhile, DOLE-NCR will directly facilitate the livelihood program advocacies under the “Kabuhayan” component together with the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC).

The virtual event will also engage the assistance of the following agencies for the One-Stop-Shop Pre-Employment Documentation and Advisory Services: National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig Fund, and Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC).

With the rising unemployment rate due to the pandemic, DOLE-NCR Regional Director Sarah Buena S. Mirasol urged jobseekers to participate in the virtual TNK fair, which is part of the National Employment Recovery Strategy (NERS) of the government for full economic recovery.

“This is an opportunity for the employers and jobseekers to meet and take advantage of the virtual job fair while mass gatherings are still restricted,” she said, assuring jobseekers that all employers in NCR who wish to join the virtual activity are screened first for any pending labor issues.

“This is no different from the TNK job fairs we use to conduct in the pastexcept of course for the venue, which is now done onlinebut our commitment to providing employment facilitation for Filipino workers remain part of the Department’s core services even during these unprecedented times,” she added.

DOLE-NCR are still coordinating with partner agencies and employers, with updates in the coming days via their official website at https://bit.ly/NCRLaborDayTNKFair2021 or Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/ncrdole
