Pasay City holds month long CGEC seminar advocacies

Disseminating relevant information about the labor market is one of the pillars of employment service that serves its purpose as the region, as well as the country in general, reels in the adverse impact of the current health crisis. It is the information on the present conditions of the labor market being cascaded to various stakeholders through the Career Guidance Advocacy Program that provides a vital link between the duty bearers and stakeholders.

For the City of Pasay, the month of May is the right time to hold Career Guidance activities prior to the students’ vacation for this year. “This is our gift to them,” said Pasay City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Filipinas Rosario Sampang. “It’s like a take home assignment, as it will enable the students to ponder on their choice of careers and exits during their vacation,” she continued.

Around 2,310 students from all the public schools in Pasay City participated in the seminar advocacies. The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) was tapped to conduct the series of career guidance and employment coaching for said public schools with Senior Labor and Employment Officer Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes of the Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare Division representing the Department as Resource Speaker.

The presentations and discussions centered on the current demands of the labor market as it progress towards new normal. Delos Reyes stressed on the importance of coping with the technological advancement that entails the Fourth Industrial Revolution, emphasizing further on the need to be responsive to the changes or demands of time and utilizing the new technology to its fullest to ensure survival in the future.

He likewise informed the attendees of the Key Employment Generators in the National Capital Region and the resilient occupations related to it. He also gave an insight on job hunting tips so as to enable the participants to ace employment in the formal setting.

All the sessions conducted were included with information on child labor and its related laws and policies so as to have a holistic view of the labor market and provide information about said concerns, its worst forms, and its negative effects on children. END / Ryan Roberto Delos Reyes
