The concerns of youth, particularly on employment, remains at the forefront of DOLE-NCR’s priorities. As such, an advocacy cum orientation seminar was conducted by the JTC Group of Companies and invited key speakers from the Department.
Ms. Mary Jane Alumbro, LLCO of PAPAMAMARISAN Field Office discussed the Disciplinary Action Process to the gathered managers in order to present a holistic scenario of the proper approach in reprimanding erring employees.
On the developmental part, Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Sr. LEO of TSSD-EPWW, discussed the rudiments of the Special Program for Employment of Students. He presented the requirements beneficiaries, wages, and salary share of the participating establishment, emphasizing the company’s savings through the DOLE’s 40% share. He also stressed that the program is one of the responses of the Government to address the employability concerns of the youth as the sector was identified as having an unemployment rate higher than the National Level. He also focused on the work attitude of the applicants, particularly the millennials whose outlook to employment in general hampers their entry and growth in the workforce. Ms. Filipinas Rosario Sampang, PESO Manager of Pasay City, affirmed the presentation of Mr. Delos Reyes with an invitation to the JTC Managers to join and commit to the program as it enables the youth to be gainfully employed while continuing their education.
The JobStart Program was also presented by Ms. Joy Pasigan of BLE and Ms. Jolita Atienza, JobStart Project Coordinator of Pasay City. In their presentation, they both accentuated the program benefits such as the beneficiaries’ life skills training, actual work immersion, and the stipend to be provided as monetary remuneration.
All the programs presented and discussed are part of DOLE-NCR’s initiatives for 2017 to increase its network in the private sector to reach various clientele and likewise address the concern of job-skills mismatch and youth employability.
