The Public Employment Service Office Managers Association of the Philippines (PESOMAP) held its Quarterly National Meeting at the National Capital Region on 17- 20 January 2017 at the Aloha Hotel, Roxas Blvd., Malate, Manila.
In the welcome remarks delivered by Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Sr. LEO of EPWW, in behalf of the Regional Director, Atty. Johnson G. Cañete, he encouraged the participants to use the activity as an avenue to discuss thoroughly the issues encountered in the previous year, plan for 2017, and promote coordination among members to ensure the realization of the PESO mandate in terms of providing employment services to its various clientele.
The activity centered on the turn-over of leadership from Ms. Vissia Marie P. Aldon of NCR to Mr. Norman Ordiz of Region VIII. Ms. Aldon was President of said organization from 2013-2016 and served concurrently as President of the local PESO chapter of NCR. Mr. Ordiz, on the other hand, served as the organization’s Executive Vice President and President of the PESO association of Region VIII.
During the activity, Ms. Ana Liza Ragos of BLE presented the outcome of the PESOMAP Elections held last year in Cebu. She likewise presented the 2017 DOLE Employment Program Roadmap of which the PESOs will play as vital role in its realization. The three-day activity includes, among others, drafting and presentation of the organization’s 2017 Action Plan, discussion of several internal concerns, and the orientation on the functions and roles of the new set of officers.
Mr. Ian J. Ticar of BLE presented the report on the conduct of last year’s PESO Congress which showed that the activity received a passing rate from its participants. He ran-down the comments surfaced by the delegates per region to improve future conduct of Congress.
Another objective of the activity is to promote camaraderie among said Officers and strengthen the partnership between the PESOs and the Department with an end goal of transforming PESOs into a multi-faceted institutions.
