A gift for the Grade 9 students of the Don Bosco Technical College in Mandaluyong was given by the DOLE-NCR in coordination with the City’s Public Employment Service Office through the conduct of Career Guidance Seminar in line with the school’s Career Guidance Week. The activity was held at the St. Dominic Savio Auditorium on 18 January 2017 with Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes of TSSD-EPWW as the Resource Speaker. He presented the Philippine education landscape to provide a clear picture of the current educational situation. Likewise, statistics on youth employment and the Key Employment Generators of the region were discussed with the students. To firmly establish and address the concerns on youth employment, Mr. Delos Reyes emphasized to the participants to develop their skills, learn work ethics and have a positive outlook on work.
The students’ interests were aroused as reflected in their inquiries during the open forum. Most of the questions raised pertain to the post-secondary path, available jobs in the market and the job search process. Ms. Alice Del Mundo of PAPAMAMARISAN Field office and the technical staff of PESO Mandaluyong assisted in the facilitation of this activity.
Career Guidance is being conducted in coordination with the schools and the PESOs in line with the thrust of providing the students with informed career choices and prepare them after their post secondary education for eventual entry to the world of work.
