Providing linkage to various stakeholders in both private and public sector is one of the strategies being employed by the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region to ensure that information on different programs and services will reach its intended clients.
On 17 February 2017, Pasay City held its Employers Forum being participated by the private establishments in said locality. Members of the City Council and the Barangay Chairmen also attended said activity to make the approach more holistic. Mayor Antonio Calixto and Cong. Emi Calixto-Rubiano graced the occasion to inspire their constituents including the private employers. In their speeches, they mentioned the changes and development that happened in the city, the need to prioritize the locals on employment, and the cooperation between the private and government sectors to ensure economic and employment growth.
DOLE-NCR was represented by Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes who likewise delivered the inspirational Message on behalf of the Regional Director, Atty. Johnson G. Cañete. In his message, he emphasized on the need of both the youth and jobseekers to have the right skills and attitude to make them highly employable. He further stressed that the government provides for interventions that will address the needs of the labor market through the different programs that cater to youth development and employment facilitation. Mr. Delos Reyes also gave an orientation on the Special Program for Employment of Students including the revisions made in the Law to enhance its implementation. Said initiative was made to entice the private companies to increase their participation in the program.
Other speakers include Ms. Lerma Jimenez of the Makati-Pasay Field Office on Labor Relations and the representative from the National Wages and Productivity Commission on the Productivity Toolbox and other related programs of said Office.
The forum spearheaded by the Pasay City is a way of reaching to the Department’s various partners in cascading needed information to ascertain cooperation of various key players on economic and employment development.
