DOLE-NCR Officials prepare Competency Needs Assessment Mechanism (CNAM) for Employees

On 15 May 2017, Ms. Rosario B. Garcia, Chief of the DOLE- HRDS Staff Development Division, together with Ms. Edelwina B. Peregrino, and Ms. Jesurella C. Giray conducted an orientation to DOLE-NCR officials on the Competency Needs Assessment Mechanism (CNAM) at the 4th Floor, DOLE-NCR Building, 967 Maligaya Street, Malate, Manila.

The CNAM evolved from the observations and feedback of the officials and employees to the Individual Competency Assessment (ICA) which was used as a basic source of information in completing the annual capability building program of respective employees from the Services, Bureaus, and Regional Offices during CY 2014-2015.

The Department-wide implementation of the Competency Development Program, as a priority program of the Human Resource Development was materialized by virtue of DOLE Administrative Order No. 84, series of 2011.

The CNAM is a tool, which aims to simplify the competency needs assessment form, streamline the process of assessment, and update the list of the DOLE competency requirements.  This will also serve as the basis for the training programs or HRD interventions that are more strategic, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the employees.  Employees holding  permanent positions who have been in the DOLE service for at least six (6) months at the time of the assessment shall be appraised by their immediate supervisor.  The results of the assessment will be used for the preparation of the DOLE Annual Integrated Training Program.

Regional Director Johnson G. Cañete and Assistant Regional Director Irma S. Valiente attended said orientation.  Participants to this activity are DOLE-NCR Field Office directors namely, Andrea P. Cabansag, Lilibeth T. Cagara, Ma. Corazon M. Pepito, Leonides P. Castillon, Jr., Rowella V. Grande, and Atty. Nepomuceno A. Leaño II.  Joining them are Atty. Marion S.
