NCR – Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) Convenes, Elects New Set of Officers

The National Capital Region - Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) convened on April 25, 2017 at the Occupational Safety and Health Center for its general assembly and election of leaders, which was attended by 100 members, representing both the management and the labor sector.

Dr. Nestor Asuncion, Union President of Faculty Association of Mapua Institute of Technology (FAMIT), was re-elected Vice Chair for Labor Sector, while Mr. Peter Quintana, Manager at Toprite Plastic Industries, Inc. and representative of Valenzuela Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (Valenzuela TIPC), was elected Vice Chair for Employer Sector. He replaced Mr. Jack Lawrence Fortuno of Petron Corporation and representative of Mandaluyong TIPC.

The 12 members of Tripartite Technical Executive Committee (TTEC) were likewise elected – 6 members from the Management side and the other 6 coming from the Labor sector. Among the functions of TTEC is to process issues and concerns and submit recommendations that require resolution of the National Capital Region – Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (NCR-TIPC) and conceptualize and/or plan yearly activities of the NCR-TIPC. It is also mandated to act on assignments delegated to it by the NCR-TIPC.

The Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) was organized to promote industrial peace and harmony between the Labor and Management, with Government’s participation towards attaining productivity, quality, excellence, growth and labor justice in the workplace. It provides an avenue for social dialogues, consultations and consensus, as a necessary condition in sustaining industrial peace.

The elected set of officers will be chaired by the DOLE-NCR Regional Director and will serve a term of two (2) years. The officers meet regularly every quarter during their tenure. END/James Oliver Punay
