Dole-Ncr Provides Career Interventions to ESGPPA Beneficiaries

Providing the needed assistance to address the concerns of the youth is one of the commitments of the Department of Labor and Employment in the Enhanced Student Grant-in Aid program for Poverty Alleviation (EGSPPA). The program is being implemented together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Commission on Higher Education.

Around 80 graduates from various State University and Colleges of NCR attended the activity held at the Oracle Hotel on 26 May 2017. Six of the graduates were also recognized during the activity as they achieved academic excellence. These are:

 

  • Ma. Carmela G. Asebias, Bachelor of Elementary Education, PUP Sta. Mesa, Magna Cum Laude
  • Darwin A. Marasigan, Bachelor of Teacher Education, Major in Information Technology, PUP Sta. Mesa, Cum Laude
  • Jennelyn A. Soriano, BSBA Human Resource Development Management, Rizal Technological University, Dean’s Lister
  • Nikki M. Masaganda, Bachelor in Banking and Finance, PUP, San Juan, Dean’s Lister
  • Mark Anthony U. Valdez, BSBA Major in Operation Management, Rizal Technological University, Dean’s Lister
  • Judith P. Reobaldes, Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, BSED Major in Filipino, Dean’s Lister

Dubbed “Graduation Treat 2017”, the activity intends to promote camaraderie and establish strong support among the beneficiaries. Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Sr. LEO of TSSD-EPWW was tapped to discuss the different programs and assistance of the Department. He presented and discussed topics that are relevant in enhancing the capabilities of the youth and at the same time increase their chances in the labor market. Topics includes labor market information with focus on youth situation, labor standards, and employment coaching.

The ESGPPA of which DOLE provides a vital link through employment services, aims to contribute to the National thrust of effectively addressing the poverty alleviation by increasing the number of graduates in higher education among the poor households thus, making them highly employable that will enable them to lift their families out of poverty and contribute to the National development.END/Ryan Roberto Delos Reyes
