“I AM READY” for PLM Senior High Students

The Senior High School students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila was given and early treat during the conduct of the school’s Career Development Seminar on 25 July 2017 at the Justo Albert Auditorium PLM, Intramuros, Manila.

Students from the Science and Technology, IT, Humanities, Accountancy and Business Administration tracks were oriented on labor market information, skills needed in the workplace, and basics in writing resume. Dubbed “I am ready”, the activity aims for the Senior High School students to have informed career choices and at the same time equip them for their eventual entry to the world of work. Ms. Raquel Braceros and Ms. Marilyn Hari, Registered Guidance Counselors of PLM and Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Sr. LEO, TSSD-EPPWW presented and discussed said topics.

The topics enable the students to have a glimpse on the demands of the labor market and the necessary skills and qualifications needed to respond to said demands. The presenters also employed games as part of the strategy to entice the students to actively participate in the activity. During the Open Forum, the students’ posted inquiries on the topics presented and insights were elicited that reflected their interests in their future prospects in the labor market.

The activity is line with the objectives of AMBISYON 2040: Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay and the 2030 AGENDA FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, particularly, GOAL 8: DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH which will aid the Administration’s aim to create 7.5 million jobs mainly in the identified Key Employment Generators thus, generate full employment and decrease the unemployment rate at 5%.
