DOLE-NCR congratulates two WODP Scholar Graduates

The Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) has once again served its effective purpose of providing educational assistance to qualified dependents of members and officers of legitimate workers’ organizations, as two (2) WODP scholars have graduated last May this year.

Maria Luisa C. Reyes graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting at St. Louis College in Valenzuela City. Luisa narrated.

Luisa’s father, Leonardo T. Reyes is the Union President of Nagkakaisa at Independyenteng Manggagawa ng Mitsuboshi. Both of her parents are factory workers.

Luisa also graduated with a Leadership Award for her active involvement in their school’s Apostolate Commission that visits orphanages, provides volunteer work at Red Cross, supports school activities and programs, among others.

The scholarship program has allowed me to be one step closer to reaching my goals. It has indeed inspired me to do my best. You deserve to earn all of your scholars’ gratitude. We made it with your help”, she recounted.

Luisa is currently looking for a job and hopes to work in one of the prestigious manufacturing companies in the country.

Meanwhile, Pia Marie P. Ferrer finished her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Manila City. In her letter to DOLE-NCR, Pia shared how the WODP Scholarship program had benefitted her, “Hindi naman ako nagmula sa mayaman o mahirap talaga na pamilya, tamang nabibigay lang ang mga kailangan namin.

Pia’s deceased father, Wilson Ferrer, was a member of the Ateneo De Manila University Employees and Workers Union.
