DOLE-CAMANAVA GIPs & PBEs undergo Capacity Building

Assisting the youth today in landing decent and successful careers is one of the visions of the Department of Labor and Employment. Furthermore, in our advocacy programs, the need to produce a holistically developed and well-equipped workforce is repetitively stressed. The Department also implements different employment facilitation programs and trainings intended to increase the youth’s competence. It is pertinent that such undertakings begin in the Department’s very own premises.

On November 9-10, 2017, the Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region CAMANAVA Field Office held an Orientation-Seminar for the Project-based Employees and interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP) within its jurisdiction at the Experts Assessment and Training Center, 5th Floor Araneta Square Center, Monumento, Caloocan City.

The participants were welcomed by Ms. Jocelyn H. Ancheta, Senior Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) and Head of the Employment – Regulatory Cluster who encouraged the participants to take advantage of the government-sponsored seminars that cater opportunities for improvement.

Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Senior LEO, DOLE - NCR - Employment Promotion and Workers’ Welfare Section discussed the importance of having the right attitude to be job-ready. He also provided tips to land a job including resume writing, wearing proper attire for job application, handling difficult interview questions and the likes. After which, Mr. Delos Reyes facilitated the workshop to enhance written communication skills.

During the latter part of the 1st day of orientation, Mr. Michael Valenzuela, Labor and Employment Officer III, discussed the General Labor Standards followed by Tips on Avoiding Sexual Harassment in the Workplace with resource speaker, Mr. Joseph Gil E. Cabrera, Labor and Employment Officer III.

On the 2nd day of orientation, DOLE CAMANAVA Field Office Head Dir. Rowella V. Grande, Director II, discussed the DOLE Programs and Services, our mandates and functions followed by discussion of the programs of PESO and its vital role in employment facilitation Ms. Maureen Tolentino of Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Valenzuela.

“Superb presentations…” remarked Mr. Rapid Joe, one of the attendees. “We are blessed to attend this seminar.” He continued.

Upon other messages, Dir. Grande closed the program with a quote from Martin Luther that says, “Good works do not make a good man but a good man does good works.” to reiterate the value of good working attitude.
