The FWCOMPHIL contribution to nation building

Strengthening the private sector’s engagement and commitment to the Government’s initiative in promoting workers’ welfare is key to ensure the maintenance of industrial peace and harmonious relationship between the employers and the workers.

It is in this premise that the Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare Division spearheaded the conduct of Family Welfare Summit on 12-14 October 2017 at the Hotel Supreme, Baguio City. Around 60 members of the organization participated in the activity.

Centering on the theme “Strengthening Family Values, Relations and Individual Empowerment for a Highly Engaged Workplace”, DOLE-NCR Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena emphasized on the vision of both the Government and its key partners’ in the private sector in the continuous implementation of programs and services, enhancement of workers and the promotion of labor standards to ensure productivity and economic progress.

During the activity, Ms. Leila R. Legayo discussed the Special Program for Employment of Students and the JobStart Philippines Program, two of the flagship programs of the Department that bridge the youth to opportunities in the world of work. Atty. Cyrelle Espino presented DOs 170 and 178 s. 2017 or the IRR of the Anti- Age Discrimination Law and the Safety and Health Measures for Workers who by Nature of their Work have to stand at work, respectively. She also discussed DO 174 s. 2017 or the Rules Implementing Articles 106 to 109 of the LCP and Wage Order 21 on Minimum Wage in NCR.

Other topics includes Occupational Health and Safety by Mr. Morris Orbe, Leadership Training by Ms. Victoria Manrique, and Livelihood and Entrepreneurship by Ms. Maricar Manaligod. Strengthening and promotion of camaraderie was also highlighted during the half-day team building activity facilitated by Mr. Jonathan Pascual and Mr. Ramil Anzaldo.

During the Awarding of Federated Family Committee, the Family Welfare Committee of the Philippines – NCR which is celebrating its 26 years as federated organization, was awarded by the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns for its unwavering support and commitment to the Department’s programs and services. Said recognition affirms organization’s role as a conduit of DOLE-NCR in the promotion of the Department’s objectives in ascertaining compliance with labor laws and other related policies.
