Dole MPFO labor inspectors underwent orientation on D.O. 183-17

The Department of Labor and Employment- Makati Pasay Field Office (DOLE-MPFO) underwent an orientation regarding the new Department Order 183-17 series of 2017 or the Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code, as Renumbered. The said orientation was conducted today, November 23, 2017 at the DOLE MPFO conference room with Engr. Kheicee Soriente from the Bureau of Working Conditions as the keynote speaker.

Ms. Nelia Mungcal, Technical Services and Support Division Chief for Labor Relations and Labor Standards of the Department of Labor and Employment National Capital Region graced the event and she was joined by other staff from the same office.

During the orientation, it was mentioned that the new Department Order was a new system adopting the old regulatory inspectorate approach. Salient features of the Department Order were the new name for the Labor Laws Compliance Officers which will now be called Labor Inspectors. Two of the modes of implementation also changed the terms used. Joint Assessment will now be called Routine Inspections and the term Compliance Visit will now be Complaint Inspection. The Inspection Audit team was also included in the new Department Order. They shall review the implementation of inspection programs and activities and the performance of the Labor Inspectors.

After several discussions about the new Department Order, all the Labor Inspectors of the DOLE MPFO were oriented on the new approach for the inspection process in the establishments within their jurisdictions.
