DOLE gives 105 factory workers livelihood grants for additional income

On Tuesday, December 19, 2017, six (6) days before Christmas, the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region CAMANAVA Field Office awarded livelihood grants in the form of Bigasan amounting to three hundred ninety thousand pesos (P 390,000.00) under the Workers Income Augmentation Program (WINAP) to two (2) Unions in Valenzuela City.

The said livelihood benefited a total of one hundred five (105) workers, forty five (45) of whom were members of the Leveflex Employees Association - FFW while sixty (60) from Formtech Workers Union. The grants will enable the workers to start their unions’ “Bigasan business” hence, augmenting their income as factory workers.

Present during the Awarding Ceremony were Dir. Rowella V. Grande, Head of the DOLE- CAMANAVA Field Office, Mr. Ronald S. Del Rosario, Unit Head of Employment-DILEEP Section and Mr. Jonathan A. Lardino, Focal Person for Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) and Valenzuela City Councilor Ramon Encarnacion, Head of the Workers Affairs Office (WAO) of the Valenzuela City government.

Before parting, Dir. Grande wished the beneficiaries well and encouraged them to grow the business and generate extra income without compromising their duties and responsibilities to the company.

“Malaking tulong po ito (livelihood grants) sa aming unyon para magkaroon kami ng additional income para sa lahat ng mga miyembro. Maasahan nyo po na pag-bubutihin namin na mag-grow ang business na inaward nyo sa amin…” said Mr. Perfecto Arañas, Union President, Leveflex Employees Association - FFW “…nag-papasalamat po kami sa DOLE para sa oportunidad na binigay nila sa amin. Sana po ipag-patuloy nyo pa ang pag-tulong sa mga manggagawa sa pamamagitan ng mga ganitong programa.”, Arañas continued.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami kay Dir. Rowie, Sir Jonas at Sir Ronald ng DOLE. Maayos pong naitawid sa amin ang programa sa tulong din po ng Valenzuela TIPC.”, said Mr. Menandro Bartolome, Union President, Formtech Workers Union.

“The government is doing its best to decrease poverty thru various projects such as WINAP. I hope it is also clear that this livelihood grant awarded by the DOLE is for business.”, said Hon. Councilor Ramon Encarnacion, Valenzuela City.

WINAP is one of DOLE’s programs aimed at increasing the income of workers within organized associations by providing them livelihood grants.
