Valenzuela City TIPC soars high with 2017 accomplishments

In 2017, the Valenzuela City Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (VCTIPC) held various activities that led to harmonious relationship among the sectors of labor, management, and government through a series of learning sessions and regular meetings.

The VCTIPC takes pride in providing various capacity buildings to its members from the workers and management sectors. The tripartite council of Valenzuela conducted four batches of Continuing Labor Education Seminar (CLES) to 547 participants and ten batches of Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training to 281 participants.

Other activities held included Learning Session on Conciliation-Mediation (32 participants); Comprehensive Paralegal Course on Labor Laws (28 participants); and Orientation on Safe and Humane Working Environment (1,006) participants).

Aside from the above-said activities, VCTIPC also organized initiatives such as Study-tour in Davao City on 20-22 April 2017 and Inter-industrial Basketball Tournament on 17 May 2017, which were participated by 14 companies at the Valenzuela City Astrodome.

Earlier this year, Resolution No. 1, Series of 2017 was enacted, naming the Food and Manufacturing Industry as the subcommittees of VCTIPC.

Said council was also instrumental in helping 2 organized unions to receive a DOLE livelihood assistance worth P390,000.00 in December 2017 under the Workers Income Augmentation Program (WINAP)—this remains to be the only TIPC in the NCR that conducts Mediation-Conciliation through Single Entry Approach (SEnA) since its deputation in 2012 by a joint memorandum signed by then Regional Director Atty. Alan Macaraya and Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian.

The absence of strikes and labor disputes in the City of Valenzuela is a clear manifestation of a harmonious relations among the three participating sectors in VCTIPC. END / Angelica Fresnoza / IMSD-LCO-2018-01 / PRJ18-01
