Pasig City Senior Citizens get business upgrade through DOLE
Senior Citizens from Pasig City with existing businesses received an upgrade from the DOLE Livelihood Program. Implemented by the Pasig City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the project aims to augment the present income of self-employed Pasiguenos.
One of the beneficiaries, Jaime Diaz, an Ambulant Vendor of Balut and Chicharon, with an initial equity of P2,500.00, received an additional P10,000.00. Other beneficiaries have other businesses aside from food vending. Gregorio Salo, another recipient, went in to tailoring business with an initial individual equity of P5,000.00 and also received an additional P10,000.00.
The additional capital in the form of goods/materials or equipment shall be used by the beneficiaries to expand their small-time businesses. “The aim is to empower Senior Citizens to have their own source of livelihood so that in their Golden Years they do not feel that they are a financial burden to their children or relative” said DOLE PAPAMAMARISAN Field Office Director Leonides Castillon, Jr.
30 Senior Citizens in Pasig City were granted of the Livelihood Enhancement Projects worth P300,000.00 in total. Said activity was held in the presence of the current Pasig City Mayor Bobby Eusebio, District Representative of Pasig City Congressman Ricky Eusebio, former Pasig City Mayor Maribel Andaya-Eusebio, and other members of the City Council.
