1st FWCOMPHIL Quarterly Membership Meeting at Makati-Pasay FO

The Family Welfare Committees Council of the Philippines (FWCOMPHIL) held its First Quarterly Membership Meeting at the DOLE Makati-Pasay Field Office (MPFO) on 30 January 2018.

In attendance were representatives from different establishments such as Toyota Otis, Inc., Toyota North EDSA, Tie- Up Associates & Manpower Resources, Inc., Wilcon Depot Inc., Continental Temic Electronics (Phils) Inc., R.R. Llanes Engineering Services, Reach Tech Distribution Corp., KJB Manpower Services, GMA-7 Employees’ Multipurpose Cooperative, Team Pacific Corporation, Leslie Corporation, Nation Paper Products and Printing Corporation, Net Pacific, Inc., Armscor International, Inc., and Tri-Phil International, Inc.

Said meeting was held to finalize 2018 Action Plans of the Family Welfare Committee.

Members of the said organization were also updated on the revised DOLE Department Order 183-17 or the “Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code, as Renumbered.”

MPFO Director Andrea P. Cabansag delivered the welcoming remarks to FWCOMPHIL officers and representatives from different companies.

MPFO Senior LEO Morris Orbe facilitated said activity and highlighted the Department’s monitoring activities to enhance FWP implementation in the National Capital Region. Orbe also emphasized the importance of strict implementation of labor laws in the companies.

FWCOMPHIL President Nelson Manglo of Toyota Motor Philippines stressed the importance of sustaining the program by encouraging more companies to join FWCOMPHIL. In closing, Manglo thanked the officers and members who attended the event.

Director Corazon M. Pepito and John Rey Abitra of DOLE-Manila Field Office, and OIC-Chief Aurora E. Halcon of TSSD-Employment Promotion & Workers’ Welfare (EPWW) Division of DOLE-NCR Regional Office joined said activity.

Asked about the role of FWCOMPHIL, Halcon said in an interview: “It is important to acknowledge our partnership with FWCOMPHIL as they are the Department’s extension arm to help promote the DOLE Family Welfare Program. During meetings, we invite a company member to hold a learning session with fellow FWCOMPHIL members to share any of their company’s established family-welfare best practices in the hopes of encouraging new members to create their own family welfare initiatives. We also take the opportunity in updating the company members on any important DOLE advisories or issuances related to workplace,” added the EPWW OIC-Chief.

An Open Forum was held on the same day to identify improvement areas in the program coordination between said organization and DOLE-NCR. Said forum was followed by a Post-Christmas Raffle activity as part of income generation project of FWCOMPHIL.

FWCOMPHIL’s 2nd Quarterly Meeting is scheduled on 24 April 2018. END/Mark Avner Acosta with report from Morris Orbe / IMSD-LCO-2018-02 / PRF18-03
