QCFO orients ABS-CBN talent suppliers on WCP

35 talent supplier representatives from ABS-CBN attended orientation on the new Working Child Permit (WCP) guidelines on 06 February 2018 at DOLE Quezon City Field Office (QCFO).

Talent suppliers of said Filipino media and entertainment group based in Quezon City were guided on the WCP policy requirements to ensure protection of their child actors engaged in public entertainment or information.

A Working Child Permit (WCP) is secured by the employer, parent or guardian from DOLE for any child below 15 years of age in any work allowed under Republic Act No. 9231 or “An Act Providing for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Affording Stronger Protection for the Working Child, Amending for this Purpose Republic Act No. 7610, as amended, Otherwise Known as the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.”

In her welcome remarks, QCFO Director Lilibeth T. Cagara emphasized the importance of obtaining a work permit for each child they employ to protect the child against abuse, exploitation and discrimination.

Chief LEO Maribeth Casin and Supervising LEO Jerome Gabriel of the DOLE Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) - Young Workers Development Division facilitated the orientation and participant inquiries.
