SAWP orientation held for Golden Asia Oil Enterprise, Inc.

As one of the eleven accredited CME (Coco Methyl Ester) producers in the country, the Golden Asia Enterprise Inc. in Pasig City, went through a mandatory reconciliation or audit on SAWP-related government lien on February 14th at DOLE-PAPAMAMARISAN Field Office (PFO).

Overseen by the DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special (BWSC), SAWP—or also known as the Special Amelioration and Welfare Program—is a social amelioration scheme instituted under RA 9367 or the Biofuels Act of 2006 that aims to improve the socio-economic well-being of workers in the biofuel industry including their families, thru augmentation of income and access to productive resources, social protection coverage and provision of livelihood and employment opportunities.

Said Bureau spearheaded the said audit together with Marian Jane Alumbro of PFO.

Alumbro briefly discussed the laws and other programs and services implemented by the Department and guided the employees of said establishment on DOLE policies and guidelines on Drug-Free Workplace, Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention, Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Hepatitis B prevention and control in the workplace, Anti-Sexual Harassment, among others.

The CME producer was also advised to undergo a seminar on General Labor Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Standards, and Security of Tenure in compliance with the Labor Laws prior to the conduct of DOLE inspection.
