CAMANAVA kicks-off 1st monthly labor seminar series for 2018

CALOOCAN CITY—some 66 representatives from various establishments within the localities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela joined the Department’s CAMANAVA field office's 1st monthly labor seminar series in 2018 as part of the Continuing Labor and Employment Education Program (CLEEP).

In her opening remarks, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) Leticia Dilao thanked the participants for their attendance despite their demanding schedules. 

CLEEP’s focal person Teddy Bayron encouraged the participants to clarify matters and ask questions as the seminar was a venue to disseminate information on labor concerns. Bayron, who was the first speaker of the day, also discussed the Labor Relations, Human Relations and Productivity (LHP).

Labor Inspector Nicandro Santos-Estrella, discussed the methods of labor inspection as reflected in the Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code and Guidelines on the Security of Tenure and Labor Only Contracting.  

Labor Inspector Joseph Gil Cabrera provided details on the DOLE's Family Welfare Program and Rules Implementing Articles 106 to 109 of the Labor Code.

Guest speaker and Board Secretary Kim Lagcao of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) discussed the Productivity Improvement at Work and the 5S of Good Housekeeping and Wage Distortion.

Dr. Rachel Basa, representative of the Caloocan City Health Department discussed the most common diseases encountered in the workplace (e.g. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Tuberculosis (TB), and drug addiction) including its prevention and control.

The seminar shall be a monthly activity of the Department’s CAMANAVA field office, every third Thursday of the month for the entire 2018 as part of the agency’s commitment to provide stakeholders the opportunity to inform the public on the various programs and services and raise questions concerning labor matters.
