McDonalds showcase SPES beneficiaries, invites DOLE for celebration

PASAY CITY—“Partnership is the key to ensure effective implementation of programs. It is a measure to that aims to increase cooperation and camaraderie” said in the inspirational message of Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena delivered in his behalf by Senior LEO Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes of TSSD-EPWW. “Let us strengthen this partnership to harness the potentials of the beneficiaries for a brighter future”, he continued.

In attendance were the staff of the Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare Division headed by Officer-in-Charge Aurora E. Halcon, DOLE-NCR Field Office and Public Employment Service Office representatives, and the Human Resource Officers of McDonalds. 

During said activity, fun games were held in a team building fashion to ascertain cooperation whilst promote commonality among the attendees. Cynthia J. Tolentino, SPES Focal Person of the Manila Field Office, won most of the prizes as she has shown sharpness and enthusiasm in her participation in the games. Most of the attendees were nostalgic of their yesteryears as they gladly joined the games much to the delight of the hosts. 

In her presentation, Tess Domingo of McDonalds showcased the accomplishments of the company as regard to participation in SPES. More than 2,000 youth benefitted from the program in 2017 wherein around 200 were absorbed as regular employees. Domingo also presented the action plans of the company to ensure its continuous participation in SPES and for the increase of its beneficiaries. 

Two former SPES beneficiaries, Marvin and Arvin Ferreria, gave testimonials on their experiences and mentioned the benefits they gained from the program. They both said that through the program, they were able to gain relevant skills that made them capable and job ready.

Capping the activity was the awarding of certificates to the partners of McDonalds in recognition of its contributions that spelled success of the SPES implementation. 

The Special Program for Employment of Students is one of the youth bridging programs being implemented by the Department that aims to develop or enhance the capacities of the youth through work immersion in preparation for their eventual entry to the world of work.
