HPMA meeting highlights discussion on DO 183-17

SAN BARTOLOME, Quezon City–The Hospital Personnel Management Association - National Capital Region (HPMA-NCR) is the sole organization of hospital human resource managers in the country pursuing the advancement and professionalization of hospital and healthcare staff development.

As part of its objective to enhance personnel management in healthcare facilities, a meeting was held on 15 March 2018 at the Bernardino General Hospital.

Aside from members of the HPMA, the meeting was also attended by the members of the Hospital Industry Tripartite Council (HITC) created by the DOLE NCR Quezon City Field Office as a policy body to discuss relevant issuances on labor and employment matters affecting the industry.

Invited to the meeting were Director Lilibeth T. Cagara, Labor Inspector Rey Sanglay and Eilaine Lou A. Lumagbas of the said labor agency.

The highlight of the meeting was the comprehensive discussion by Labor Inspector Sanglay on the Department Order (DO) 183, Series of 2017 or the “Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code, as Renumbered”. The said Department Order underscores the inspection process, correction and remediation period.

An open forum followed after the discussion to help participants gain appreciation of the salient features of DO 183-17. This also led to the discussion on another issuance, the Department Order 182, Series of 2017 or the “Guidelines Governing the Employment and Working Conditions of Health Personnel in the Private Healthcare Industry”

After the learning session, the 2018 HITC Plans and Programs were presented by DOLE representative Eilaine Lumagbas together with the HITC Secretariat.

Director Cagara took the opportunity to invite the HPMA members to also participate in the HITC activities.

In closing, HPMA President Cielico "Sonny" Legarda expressed his heartfelt gratitude to DOLE for its continuous support to the HPMA and HITC. END / Eilaine Lou Lumagbas / IMSD-LCO-2018-03 / PRM18-08
