PH broadcast industry council joins DOLE health and safety training
QUEZON CITY—Officers and members of the Broadcast Industry Tripartite Council (BrITC) joined the Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training held at the GMA 7 Network Center on July 24-25 and 30, 2018.

Organized in November 2008 under the leadership of DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office (QCFO), the BrITC recognizes the important role of occupational safety and health in the broadcast industry, making it a part of the Council’s priority plan for 2018.

The activity was conducted by Safeways Consultancy and Safety Services, a DOLE-accredited occupational safety and health training provider in the Philippines.

47 representatives from various broadcasting networks such as ABS-CBN, CNN, GMA 7, IBC 13, Radio Veritas, TAPE, Transradio, TV5, and UNTV joined the training’s initial phase.

DOLE-NCR QCFO Director Lilibeth T. Cagara graced the first day session and said that the training has long been awaited by the Council.

“The training has been raised by the Council during our previous meetings and the activity will enable the broadcast industry to achieve a safer workplace and promote workers’ health,” said Director Cagara.

The participants found the training very relevant and informative, allowing everyone to share common OSH-related practices and insights.

The Council were grateful to DOLE for pursuing the activity and ensured of their continued support to the labor and employment agency’s mandate.

“We'll continue to work with DOLE and other broadcast companies through the BrITC, together with union members and employee groups," said Timothy Joseph Isla of ABS-CBN and BrITC Vice-Chair for the Management Sector.

“We, the National Alliance of Broadcast Unions (NABU) are glad to have this BOSH Training through the help of DOLE-NCR QCFO and the efforts and persistence of all members of the Broadcast Industry Tripartite Council,” said Arthur Guda of IBC 13 and Vice-Chair for the Labor Sector. “We hope that this will truly help our local companies,” added Guda.
