PESO-NCR receive hands-on training on PEIS

MALATE, Manila—Focal personnel of the Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) received a hands-on training on PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) organized by DOLE-NCR Regional Office on Tuesday, August 7.

Initiated by the DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment, PEIS is a web-based national skills registry system in the country that consists of enlisted jobseekers including employment opportunities posted by registered employers.  

Said employment facilitation machinery is maintained and updated by all participating PESO nationwide. Since the features of the system has been updated, the activity was necessary to drill the program implementers on its enhanced version and address technical concerns. 

“We are doing this as it is part of the mandate of the Department of Labor and Employment to provide capacity building and technical assistance to our conduits in the grass roots level—the Public Employment Service Office,” said in the welcome remarks of Senior LEO Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes in behalf of DOLE-NCR Regional Director, Atty. Ana C. Dione. 

IT experts from the DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment Elmer Cruz and Scope Global representatives Erwin Cruz and Rio Fe Del Valle guided the PESO focal staff on the 1-day learning session, which were divided into three parts: 1) Updates on the Job Search Kiosk; 2) Hands-on training on PEIS; and 3) Data Processing and Analysis.

Awarding of laptops to PESO-NCR

To ensure learning and application of the topic, DOLE-NCR awarded one (1) laptop unit for each PESO to allow every focal to appreciate the system framework that were demonstrated by the resource persons. 

“Mas maganda na connected ang unit sa Internet so that clients can access websites from other government agencies like job listing ng POEA, free training of TESDA…” explained the BLE facilitators as they orient the participants on the DOLE Job Search Kiosk updates. Using their new laptops, the participants were instructed to download the new system features to synchronize unit with the enhanced version. Towards the end of the session, they reminded all the PESO focal participants to ensure proper encoding of data to provide timely and accurate reports.

On a larger scale, PEIS plays a significant role in assisting the PESO in effectively generating information to realize the pillars of employment which, Delos Reyes highlighted, are: Referral and Placement, Career Guidance, and Labor Market Information.
