DOLE-NCR extends financial grants to new scholars

MALATE, Manila—The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) awarded scholarships for two (2) students under the Workers’ Organization Development Program (WODP) on August 8 and 13.

The beneficiaries, Shanna Marie B. Andal and Melanie O. Naparato, are both children of union-members of Tas Trans Workers’ Association.

“Maraming salamat kasi sobrang laking tulong sa akin…” said Melanie Naparato, daughter of a bus conductor in Tas Trans Corporation and a freshman Electrical Engineering student at the Cavite State University (CSU).

“Being a scholar is a big opportunity to me because I can pursue my dreams with the help of DOLE-NCR…” said in a statement of fellow WODP scholar, Shanna Marie Andal. She added, “I will do my best not to fail in any subject that I will take in the future and it will be my inspiration and motivation not to quit in any struggles that I may encounter.”
