58 students join labor education and employment coaching
 
VALENZUELA CITY—Some 58 senior high school students of Punturin National High School participated in the Career Guidance Advocacy Program held Friday, August 10, through the collaborative partnership of the DOLE-NCR CAMANAVA Field Office and the Valenzuela City Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
 
“The Career or Employment Coaching and Labor Education for Graduating Students is a program regularly carried out by DOLE and PESO to guide the students in choosing appropriate careers in the near future,” said Labor and Employment Officer Adrian Paul B. Dumaquit in his opening remarks. 
 
Valenzuela PESO representative Derrick C. Velarde discussed the DOLE and PESO ventures that catered to youth such as DOLE’s Career Guidance Advocacy Program (CGAP), Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), and the Government Internship Program (GIP). Velarde also briefed the students on the process of employment referral system.    
 
Labor and Employment Officer Angelica C. Fresnoza presented the current Philippine Labor Statistics and the Key Employment Generators based on the Project Jobsfit 2022 Vision—a study released by DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment. Fresnoza also provided tips on choosing a right career, landing a decent job, and preparing a resume and cover letter. 
 
Student participants were also oriented on the basic rights of employees.
 
PESO Valenzuela representative Lovely R. Huerto provided technical support during the activity. 
 
CGAP and Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) are DOLE’s youth bridging programs aimed at informing the future jobseekers of the current labor market situation and the basic rights of workers to become more equipped as they enter the field of work. END / Angelica Fresnoza
