The Caloocan City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted the 1st Culminating Activity for the implementation of Career Guidance Advocacy Program (CGAP) at the New Caloocan City Hall last Thursday, October 4, 2018.

Said activity was intended to show gratitude to Caloocan City public high school principals and guidance counselors for taking initiatives in conducting CGAP.

“This year, the implementation of CGAP took a different turn as the guidance counselors took the lead in conducting the career coaching orientations in their schools after our capacity building in July,” said Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Leticia D. Dilao of DOLE CAMANAVA Field Office in her opening messages.

CGAP is a yearly activity of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in coordination with PESO, Department of Education (DepEd) and Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The program aims to eliminate the effects of job and skills mismatch by conducting orientations to Grade 10 students about the projected jobs and the preferred courses recommended by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and TESDA.

Aside from the awarding of plaques of appreciation to the said participants, the culminating activity also became a celebration of the World Teachers’ Day.

“The youth of Caloocan City are indeed blessed with principals and guidance counselors who are well equipped in guiding our younger generation in making decisions for their career paths…” said Dilao.
