Network building is one of the strategies to effectively facilitate the employment programs and services to ensure its effective implementation. One of the essentials of networking is to capacitate the partners to enhance their capabilities in delivering their respective mandates.

As the primary partner of the Department in providing employment services, the Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) of the National Capital Region (NCR) were given an early holiday treat through the conduct of the Re-Tooling Activity on National Skills Registry (NSR) and Labor Market Information (LMI) from December 12 to 13, 2018 in Malate, Manila.

The activity aims to enhance the capabilities of the NCR PESOs relative to the implementation of the skills registry initiative and labor market information and to also impart the current developments in the field of employment facilitation.

Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare Division Chief Lorna R. Obedoza delivered the welcome remarks in behalf of Atty. Ana C. Dione, Regional Director of DOLE-NCR. In her message, she encouraged the participants to actively participate and raise concerns to objectively address issues. She also mentioned that the Department will continue to provide relevant training to enhance the capacities of its partners at the local level.

Topics during the activity presented an array of pertinent information that will strengthen the provision of employment services. Among many topics discussed were the LMI Data Visualization and Presentation, Effective LMI Dissemination, Skills Forecasting, Key Employment Indicators and Data Collection, and Project JobsFit 2022 Report. The team of employment personnel headed by Genevieve T. De Castro, Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, and Leila R. Legayo provided technical expertise on the mentioned topics. Labor Market Analyst Rio Fe Del Valle of the Scope Global was the resource speaker for statistical matters and its translation to effective labor market signaling.

The participants’ keen interest on the presented topics paved the way for a healthy exchange of insights, issues, and recommendations that will serve as an output to be used for policy enhancement and program implementation.

The activity is in line with the DOLE's intent of providing key information on labor situation to improve the provision of employment services and respond to the needs of the 21st century labor market. END / Ryan Roberto Delos Reyes
