CAMANAVA-based manpower agencies join labor education seminar

CALOOCAN CITY HALL—A total of 124 representatives from various manpower agencies in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) attended the free orientation-seminar conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment - National Capital Region - CAMANAVA Field Office in partnership with the local government unit of Caloocan City through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) on 14 November 2018.

DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. discussed the General Labor Standards (GLS), emphasizing on the payment of wages, security of tenure, and anti-sexual harassment policies. 

Some labor inspectors in the said field office were also present to give public awareness on other important policies of the agency. Labor inspector Robert H. Panganiban discussed the methods of labor inspection as reflected in the DOLE Department Order No. 183-17 or the Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant To Article 128 of the Labor Code, as Renumbered. Labor inspector Michael Valenzuela talked about the agency’s Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS).

During the latter part of the program, the Joint Taskforce Katiwasayan from the Office of the President in Malacañang Palace, led the awareness on Labor Infiltration of the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) and its possible effects to the establishments should the said infiltration escalate.

In her closing remarks, DOLE-CAMANAVA head Rowella V. Grande said that the activity is in line with the agency’s Continuing Labor and Employment Education Program (CLEEP) with the purpose of advocating to stakeholders the DOLE policies, services, and programs. She added: “Through this activity, representatives from different companies are given opportunity to raise questions on gray areas concerning labor matters.”  END / Angelica Fresnoza
