CALOOCAN CITY – Due process has again spoken from the Roman dictum “Where there is a right, there is a remedy.”

Some 152 affected workers in CAMANAVA availed P7.4-M money claims in total for regular holiday pay and special day premium, provisions of minimum wage and payments of 13th month, retirement and separation benefits, among others through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA).

These workers were from the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from industries such as manufacturing, services, retail, manpower etc., all-encompassing from the areas of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (CAMANAVA).

Michell Franco, a representative of the respondent party, told the CAMANAVA Field Office (CFO) of the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), a slight hesitation and fear on their end being the employer and not an underprivileged worker.

“Naka-receive po kami ng complaint letter from one of our crew. At first medyo hesitant kami kasi what if di pakinggan ang side namin,” he said.

This hesitation, however, quickly translated into a lasting and hopeful impression.

“Dahil po sa maayos na pagpapaintindi for both parties, napagkasunduan po agad ang settlement at naayos na po ang problema. Kudos to DOLE-NCR CAMANAVA sa pagkakaroon ng magaling na empleyado. Sana marami pa pong Mr. Malgapo sa inyong department na mabait, matulungin at may malasakit sa kapwa. His effort describes what a public servants exemplify,” he added.

Michell Franco was assisted by Gerry P. Malgapo, one of DOLE-NCR CFO’s Desk Officers. Malgapo was also one of the nominated Best SEnA Desk Officers for year 2021 by the DOLE-NCR.

In a statement, DOLE-NCR CFO Director Rowella V. Grande lauded the cooperation of both parties in the cases and the immediate and impartial settlement of due compensation.
