The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Manila Field Office (MFO) in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government of Manila awarded 161 beneficiaries with livelihood assistance through DOLE’s BikeCINATION project on October 25, 2021, at the PESO Extension Office, Manila.

The identified beneficiaries belonging to the A4 category had completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccines received a free bicycle with an insulation bag, protective helmet, mobile phone, and prepaid load worth P5,000.00 for their food delivery start-up. They also became recipients of an insurance coverage under the GSIS Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI).

18-year-old student Sunshine Kris Amador, one of the 161 beneficiaries, thanked DOLE for the livelihood assistance, which she said would be helpful for her existing online business.

“Hindi ko na po kailangan manghiram ng bike para mag-deliver. May magagamit na po ako araw-araw na makakatulong sa online business ko. Nagpapasalamat din po ako kay Sec Bello para sa proyektong ito at sana ay marami pa po kayong matulungan,” said Amador.

On the other hand, Manila PESO Manager Fernan Bermejo expressed his gratitude to the Department of Labor and Employment and Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III for the livelihood assistance provided to the beneficiaries in Manila during this time of the pandemic. He also congratulated the beneficiaries because through this project, they are automatically registered as Grab delivery riders in partnership with Grab Philippines.

The DOLE BikeCINATION is a special project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, which aims to continuously provide assistance to contribute to the reduction of poverty by promoting entrepreneurship, and one of the Department’s strategies to encourage individuals especially workers in the informal sector to have themselves vaccinated against COVID-19.
