In the spirit of fairness and as part of ensuring transparency and credibility of the selection process for the 2019 Search for Best Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) conducted a Field Office validation and an external deliberation of entries on August 13 and 19, 2020 at Café Feliza, Malate, Manila.

Out of 17 NCR PESOs, the region received seven (7) entries under the Highly Urbanized City category namely: PESO Caloocan, PESO Muntinlupa, PESO Taguig, PESO Mandaluyong, PESO Parañaque, PESO Makati, and PESO Pasay. Furthermore, it is notable that for the first time ever, there was an entry under the 1st-2nd Class Municipality Category which is PESO Pateros.

The DOLE-NCR Field Office validation was represented by Alicia C. Del Mundo from PAPAMAMARISAN, Ronald S. Del Rosario from CAMANAVA, Katrina L. Otadoy from MAKATI-PASAY, and Precious Gemao from MUNTAPARLAS. The validation aims to verify the data and accomplishments submitted by the PESOs and for the Field Office representatives to deliberate further and initially assess each PESO performance.

The external deliberation on the other hand was convened by the Regional Awards Committee composed of representatives from PESOMAP, Regional Coordinating Council, Regional Development Council, Employer Organization, Media, and DOLE-NCR Technical Working Group from the Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare (EPWW) Division. Such deliberation was aimed at ensuring the actuality of the results from previous assessments and deciding on the region’s entries for the National Best PESO Awards. During the deliberation, external jurors were given a hand to recommend the initial scores leading to the finalization of the region’s official entries.

After a number of meticulous deliberations, PESO Mandaluyong and PESO Pateros were hailed as DOLE-NCR’s official entries for the Highly Urbanized City Category and 1st-2nd Class Municipality Category of the 2019 Search for Best PESO.
