Some 78 Taguigeños benefitted from the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) emergency work and livelihood program on March 23, 2022 at Signal Village National High School, Taguig City.

Said activity was facilitated by the MUNTAPARLAS Field Office (MTPLFO) of DOLE – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) in partnership with the City Government of Taguig’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

Of total number of beneficiaries, 50 were recipients of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD). They were hired for a period of 14 days at P537 per day (based on NCR’s minimum wage rate) to conduct various community work in their area beginning above said date until April 5, 2022.

Meanwhile, the remaining 28 individuals consisting of informal sector workers, displaced workers, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) were recipients of the DOLE BikeCINATION Project, which amounted to P560,000 disbursed funds. Said assistance package included a bicycle unit, mobile phone with P5000 worth of electronic load wallet, and protective gears. Further, all beneficiaries were enrolled in the Government Service Insurance System’s (GSIS) Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI).

Apart from the awarding, MTPLFO Director Leonides P. Castillon Jr., oriented the beneficiaries on the provided DOLE aid as part of their social preparation. He discussed, among others, some practical tips on sustaining their livelihood assistance with a seminar on financial literacy. He also shared that beneficiaries have the option to launch their own food delivery services using the free bikes and the electronic load cards to kick start their e-loading business.

PESO Taguig Manager Norman M. Mirabel were also present during the activity and wished all the beneficiaries well in their livelihood endeavors.
