Under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) and in line with the BikeCINATION Project launched last September 21, 2021, the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through Makati-Pasay Field Office (MPFO) had awarded bicycles with accessories and mobile phones to Makati and Pasay beneficiaries in the A4 category and who have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccines on October 1, 2021 and October 5, 2021, respectively.
The livelihood awarding events were attended by the local government officials of Makati and Pasay together with DOLE-NCR Division Chief Lorna Obedoza of TSSD – Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare; DOLE-NCR MPFO OIC-Director, Atty. Olivia Obrero-Samson; MPFO Employment Unit Head Katrina Otadoy; and DILEEP Focal Divina Gracia Dean.
Said project aims to contribute to poverty reduction by providing bicycles that may be used for delivery and food services and mobile phones for e-loading business. The identified beneficiaries of Makati and Pasay included self-employed individuals, home-based workers, underemployed individuals, out-of-school youth, and senior citizens.
In Makati City, Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo expressed her gratitude to DOLE’s provision of livelihood assistance especially during this time of pandemic. She reminded the Makati City beneficiaries to take care of the livelihood package and use them to augment their income.
On the other hand, Pasay City PESO Manager Filipinas Rosario Sampang mentioned that the livelihood assistance reinvigorated the beneficiaries to move forward and support their families in the midst of pandemic.
A total of 137 beneficiaries were provided with the livelihood aid who showed their appreciation to the government’s assistance.
