A total of 235 out of 872 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during the Caloocan City Local Government Unit’s (LGU) Mega Job Fair last November 10, 2022 at the Caloocan City Sports Complex in Barangay Bagumbong.

The successful event was made possible through collaborative efforts of the Caloocan City LGU’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) – CAMANAVA Field Office.

In said event, 43 companies, most of which were related to the E-commerce and Information Technology & Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry, sought applicants to fill 6,750 available job vacancies.

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan graced the event with Caloocan City PESO Manager, Ms. Violeta Y. Gonzales, and DOLE-NCR CFO representatives, Mr. Albert Ferrer and Ms. Marjorie Balingit.

Mayor Malapitan stated that the activity aims to provide job opportunities for their displaced or unemployed constituents to give them the chance to support their families, hence encouraging companies to hire as much applicants as possible.

Mr. Ferrer, on behalf of CFO Director Rowella V. Grande, thanked the participating companies and national government agencies for their unending support. He also encouraged jobseekers to take chances on the available job opportunities and urged the employers to be considerate in their recruitment process so that many may qualify as their potential employees.

“Patuloy pa rin pong makikiisa ang DOLE upang makapag-facilitate ng ganitong programa upang makapagbigay ng assistance at serbisyo sa mga tao…na hindi kinakailangang baybayin ang iba’t ibang lugar sa pag-aapply ng trabaho…” he said.

Job fair is an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time, and effort particularly on the part of the applicants. This is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement. During the job fair, applicants select vacancies suited to their qualifications and employers interview and hire-on-the-spot qualified applicants.
