The displaced workers of Colegio de San Lorenzo (CDSL) in Quezon City received their separation and final pay amounting to 36,296,875.48 pesos on September 20, 2022.
The payment of said claims for the 115 out of the 118 displaced workers from CDSL was witnessed by DOLE-NCR Mediation Arbitration and Legal Service Unit (MALSU) as represented by Mediator-Arbiter, Atty. John Vincent Malinao and Quick Response Team (QRT) of DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office (QCFO) composed of QCFO Director, Engr. Martin T. Jequinto; Senior Labor and Employment Officers, Ms. Johanna C. Montecino, Ms. Hannah Jane T. Postrado, Ms. Sharlene Palma, Mr. Jeremias Red, Mr. Robert Panganiban, Ms. Katrina Birad, Mr. Jil Emmanuel S. Fernandez; Labor and Employment Officer III, Ms. Jeliza E. Manaligod; and Livelihood Development Specialist, Ms. Reyncel D. Dorado.
As for the remaining three affected workers, QCFO confirmed that they received their monetary claims the following day, September 21, 2022.
Prior to release of said claims, Atty. Stefano Dong Chul C. Han, legal counsel of CDSL, clarified to the former employees that due to the financial status of the institution, the Board can no longer accommodate the request of some employees to include payment of allowances in the computation of their separation pay, on top of the one (1) month pay per year of service that they are paying.
Atty. Han added that the separation pay was computed based on their one month salary pay per year of service, instead of the one-half month pay per year of service, as required by law on businesses or establishments that are ceasing or closing.
