In time for this year’s celebration of women’s month, some 15 member-beneficiaries of Ladies Circle 185 from Pasay City were awarded with 8 sewing machines and other tailoring materials through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)’s livelihood program on February 28, 2022.

The awarding of the livelihood assistance, which amounted to P100,000, was spearheaded by DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) through its Makati-Pasay Field Office (MPFO) in partnership with the City Government of Pasay’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

In her closing message to the beneficiaries, DOLE-NCR MPFO OIC-Director, Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson said, “we hope that you enrich and sustain the livelihood grant, as we will eventually conduct monitoring on the progress of your project.”

The DOLE’s livelihood program aims to assist the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, either for individual or group livelihood project/undertakings. The assistance serves as an effective tool in countering the negative socio-economic impact brought about by the effects of the pandemic, through the provision of additional source of income. Further, it also ensures the Department’s contribution to the life transformation of the unemployed women of Barangay 185, Pasay City, amidst the nation’s continuous fight against the seemingly unending trying times caused by the pandemic.
