The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the City Government of Manila led the BikeCINATION Project awarding ceremony on September 27, 2021, at the Manila City Hall. The project roll-out was made possible through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Program (DILEEP) and the joint efforts of DOLE and the Manila Local Government Unit (LGU).
Present during the activity were DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III; DOLE-NCR Regional Director, Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol; Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Russel A. Jallorina; DOLE-NCR Manila Field Office OIC-Director Ruby Socorro Daquigan together with the Manila LGU officials led by Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso and Manila Vice-Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan.
A total of 168 individuals in Manila City were identified as beneficiaries of the BikeCINATION Project. But during the message of DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, he said that the Department will grant the same livelihood assistance to additional 32 individuals in the informal sector who have completed their vaccination against COVID-19.
“Gawin nating 200 para mapakinabangan ng mga tiga-Maynila…” said Bello after giving an overview of the BikeCINATION project.
Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso conveyed his message of thanks to the Department of Labor and Employment and the staff of LGU Manila – Public Employment Service Office for its partnership in order to provide job opportunities for Manileños.
The project beneficiaries are set to receive a bicycle, bag, helmet, mobile phone, and load worth Php 5,000.00 to start their own venture. The BikeCINATION Project is one of DOLE’s strategies to encourage individuals especially workers in the informal sector to have themselves vaccinated against COVID-19 and to contribute to the National Employment Recovery Strategy (NERS) under the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK).
