The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare Division (EPWW) held the evaluation of entries for the Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Awards.
Twelve entries from the 17 Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in NCR were evaluated and validated in three different phases—from the initial assessment of EPWW, validation of data from DOLE-NCR’s Field Office, and then the final deliberation of external jurors. The process proved to be challenging for the validating team as all entries showcased the performances of the PESOs during the pandemic.
The external validators were representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government – NCR, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – NCR, DOLE – Information & Publication Services, PESO Pasay as representative of the PESO Association of Metro Manila, and Yakult Philippines.
During the deliberation with the external validators, the jurors were shown both the video and documentary entries to enable them to determine their own scores and discuss on the presentations so as to consider and finalize the best entries to be submitted to the national level.
After careful assessment and exchange of viewpoints, the judges agreed and decided that the entries of the following PESOs shall represent the National Capital Region in various categories:
- PESO Valenzuela for the Excellence Award Category
- PESO Mandaluyong for the Highly Urbanize City Category
- PESO Pateros for the 1st Class Municipality Category
The Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award was first held in 2021 to recognize the performance of the PESOs during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
