The 2021 National Women’s Month was celebrated by the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through a photography contest as well.

The contest theme, “DOLE-NCR Search for the Best Juana Shot,” was organized by the DOLE-NCR Gender and Development Committee to pay tribute to #WonderJuanas through photography.

All Field Offices of DOLE-NCR participated in the contest by submitting their photo entry as virtually judged by a selection panel on March 25, 2021. The photo submitted by the MUNTAPARLAS Field Office got 3rd Place while the photo of Manila Field Office attained 2nd Place. Meanwhile, the photo submitted by the Makati-Pasay Field Office featuring female employees of DOLE-NCR conducting site inspection on Occupational Safety and Health compliance was hailed as the DOLE-NCR Best Juana Shot.

The selection of the top three best photos were virtually evaluated by the following members of selection committee: Labor and Employment Officer III Ferdinand Bacani from the DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns – Women Workers Development Division; Board Secretary Kim Lagcao of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – NCR; and Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Marion S. Sevilla of DOLE-NCR.

A virtual awarding ceremony attended by the DOLE-NCR Gender and Development Advocates was held on March 29, 2021, to express appreciation to the participating offices and to give recognition to the Top 3 DOLE-NCR Best Juana Shots.

In consonance with this year’s women’s month celebration theme, “Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!”, the activity aimed to highlight the significant and extraordinary roles played by women during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the subject of the photos submitted are women who braved up to be at the forefront during society’s dealing with the health crisis.
