In celebration of the National Children’s Month themed “Kalusugan, Kaisipan, and Kapakanan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan,” the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), through its Manila Field Office (MFO), spearheaded an advocacy orientation to 30 parents or guardians of former child laborers on November 17, 2022, at Building 30 Aroma Temporary Housing, Barangay 105, Tondo, Manila.

The advocacy orientation was attended by Mr. Miguelito A. Relente, Career Services Section Head, Guidance and Counselling at the Far Eastern University (FEU); Ms. Elinita G. Reyes, Barangay 105, District 1 Chairwoman; and DOLE-NCR Manila Field Office Community Facilitators, Justine Salapang and Geraldine Mabaet.

DOLE-NCR MFO discussed the DOLE Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program, Anti-Child Labor Law, Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Law, and Batas Kasambahay.

The participants received personal hygiene kits from MFO; lunch packs from the City Government of Manila’s Department of Social Welfare (MDSW); and school supplies from the FEU Volunteerism Services Office.

Celebrated every month of November in the Philippines, the National Children’s Month aims to give Filipino children, especially victims of child labor, an access to a healthy environment, good education, and healthcare.
