The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), through its Makati-Pasay Field Office (MPFO), conducted a free online orientation on preparation for labor inspections and basics of General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) for private employers on October 11, 2022.

MPFO labor officers Caselyn M. Quiñones, Isobelle Rona Y. Baturi, Jonnah A. Yting, and Randy Gerard R. Gapasin tackled the actual process, requirements, and documents for inspection to the participants.

Guest speaker Hanadee Angelie Galano, a registered nurse and project manager of Cuilion Foundaion, Inc., also shared her knowledge on the proper approach to Tuberculosis in the workplace.

MPFO Director II, Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson, stressed in her message that the yearly inspection should be prioritized and compromises should not also be made when complying to the GLS and OSHS.

“Apart from attaining our annual target, we want to make sure that the employers will be fair in the implementation of their respective labor practices even without the benefit of the labor inspection program of the Department,” she said.

The yearly conduct of the Department’s inspection program is pursuant to DOLE Department Order No. 183, Series of 2017 or the Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code, as renumbered, in connection with DOLE Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018, or the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11058, entitled “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof.”
