The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Manila Field Office (MFO) conducted an orientation for the 472 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) on October 20, 2021 in coordination with the City Government of Manila through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
In his opening remarks, Manila PESO Manager Fernan Bermejo congratulated the program recipients and encouraged them to value their work experience as SPES beneficiaries.
The orientation was facilitated by MFO Labor and Employment Officers Cynthia Tolentino and Ernest Mhel Aranda and discussed the SPES’ legal bases, objective, mission and vision, employment period, the application process, and the payment of salaries, among others.
MFO Labor and Employment Officer Ernest Mhel Aranda said that the SPES program is not only about the compensation but also the experience that they will gain during their employment.
“Sana i-grab natin ang opportunity and let’s make the most out of it. Lahat ng pwede niyong matutunan, aralin ninyo. Habang kayo ay nasa trabaho, i-develop na ninyo ang work skills, work attitude, yung intrapersonal at yung interpersonal skills ninyo,” he said.
SPES is an employment bridging program of the Department of Labor and Employment that aims to support the poor but deserving students and out-of-school (OSY) to continue their education by giving them employment opportunities.
