The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) joined this year’s simultaneous grand opening of the “KADIWA sa Pasko 2022” caravan at selected areas in Metro Manila on November 16, 2022.

Launched and spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in 2019, the “Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita” (KADIWA), enables the farming community to sell goods directly to consumers without the trader-intermediaries, allowing them to reap higher profits while still offering quality products at an affordable price to consumers. The project was enhanced during the COVID-19 outbreak and the continuous increase in prices of commodities.

With the government at work towards economic recovery and taking advantage of the holiday season, the DA, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the labor department launched the “KADIWA sa Pasko” starting November until December 2022.

For its part, DOLE is tasked to ensure labor support for the operation of the KADIWA including but not limited to the clean-up, maintenance order, and support services; and facilitate employment and performance monitoring of the beneficiaries of TUPAD or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced / Disadvantaged Workers.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., who is also the DA Acting Secretary, led the KADIWA sa Pasko launch at the Molave Covered Court in Mandaluyong City as accompanied by DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr., DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual, and Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos. Tumana Covered Court, Marikina City; Quezon City Hall; Parañaque City Sports and Social Hall; San Juan City Hall; Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City; Caloocan City Hall; and Makati City Hall.

Cruz, Manila on November 5, 2022, and in front of Muntinlupa City Hall on November 15, 2022. Overall, DOLE-NCR Regional Director, Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol said they profiled a total of 188 KADIWA sellers and drivers who would like to avail the TUPAD and are underway to facilitate the necessary assistance.
