On April 28, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Makati/Pasay Field Office (MPFO), upon request of the selected representatives of the Legaspi/Salcedo Makati Building Administrators Association, Inc., conducted a free orientation on General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS).

Resource speaker and MPFO labor officer / labor inspector Francisco S. Orallo Jr., discussed matters related to the actual conduct of the labor inspection program pursuant to DOLE Department Order No. 183, Series of 2017 or the Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code, as renumbered, in connection with DOLE Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018, or the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11058, entitled, An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof.

MPFO OIC-Director II Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson stressed in her message to the participants the main objective of the orientation, which is mainly to aid the employers, particularly the building administrators, who are active members of the aforementioned association, in preparing for the yearly inspection. The Director also said that compliance with the GLS and OSHS without compromising the benefits due to the employees should be the utmost priority.

“Our target for this year will not solely focus on acquiring a higher accomplishment rate, above that, we want to make sure that you, as part of the employers’ side, will be fair in the implementation of your respective labor practices even without the benefit of the labor inspection program of the Department,” she added.

The orientation was held at G/F Classica 1 Condominium, 112 H.V. dela Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City as attended by 28 participants coming from different member building administrators.
