Some 100 beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program (GIP) underwent an orientation program on June 20, 2022—the same day of their deployment in their respective office assignments.

The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Makati & Pasay Field Office (MPFO) conducted the orientation in collaboration with the City Government of Pasay’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

Said beneficiaries will be deployed as encoders to different offices of Pasay City, such as the Mayor’s Office, Vaccination Sites, and Electronic Mamamayan Identification (EMI) Center for the exact duration of three (3) months or from June 20, 2022 to September 20, 2022.

Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano welcomed the said program recipients and told the beneficiaries to take full advantage of their employment opportunity and treat the same as their initial exposure to government service. The local chief executive advised the beneficiaries to wholeheartedly appreciate all the learnings they can acquire which they can later on utilize in their pursuit of their chosen career, with a certain emphasis on the observance of the highest degree of commitment in the performance of their given functions.

MPFO OIC-Director II, Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson discussed the GIP background, benefits, and other salient features of the program. In her message of support, Director Samson encouraged the beneficiaries to faithfully demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service, particularly in the grounds and disciplines related to labor and employment.

GIP is one of the flagship programs of the Department of Labor and Employment that provides three to six (3-6) month’s internship opportunity for high school, technical-vocational, or college graduates who wants to pursue a career in public service in either local or national government.
