Some 50 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) underwent an orientation program on March 3, 2022—the same day of their deployment in their respective office assignments.
The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its MUNTAPARLAS Field Office (MTPLFO) conducted the orientation in collaboration with the City Government of Muntinlupa’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
Muntinlupa City PESO Manager Glenda Z. Aniñon welcomed the first batch of the program recipients and told the beneficiaries to make the most of their employment opportunity by committing themselves fully to their tasks. She also advised the beneficiaries to value all the learnings that they can apply for their future career, including the observance of proper work ethics while at work.
MTPLFO Labor and Employment Officers and SPES coordinators Ruby Dimaano and Christopher Gregorio discussed the SPES background, benefits, and other salient features of the program.
In closing, Dimaano encouraged the beneficiaries—whose almost half is identified as out-of-school-youth (OSY)—to take any chance that they can get to continue their education and make it their priority and motivation in availing the program.
The Special Program for Employment of Students is DOLE’s youth employment-bridging program which aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers anytime of the year to help beneficiaries pursue their education.
